| Ingredient Focus - Shea Butter |
We use Shea Butter in our Organic Velvet Balm for Body & Hands and in our Saving Face Men’s Moisturiser – in both cases, a little goes a long way.
Shea butter has been used for thousands of years by African healers to alleviate maladies of the skin and scalp. Shea butter has soothing, moisturising and protective effects, gentle enough for use on babies and sensitive skin and with almost miraculous healing properties for dry, chapped and damaged skin and the healing of small wounds, cracks, crevices and sun ulcers.
Crude Shea butter has natural antioxidant properties which helps to prevent skin aging. It also has anti-elastrace characteristics, which makes it a good agent to fight against stretch marks.
Think of shea butter as a fabulous skin food because it feeds goodness back into your skin, making it healthy, lustrous, moisturised and velvety soft!

| Roast your own Pumpkin Seeds |
We love making Jack-o’-Lanterns out of pumpkins for Hallowe’en – but we didn’t realise what we are wasting when we throw out the pulpy insides and seeds!
Pumpkin Seeds, aka Pepitas, are little power packs of essential minerals & vitamins. Just one gram of pumpkin seed protein contains as much tryptophan as a full glass of milk. (Tryptophan produces serotonin the ‘happy hormone’ in the body)
They are even said to help lower cholesterol!
Pumpkin seeds are also a good source of zinc, essential for male and female fertility, as well as B vitamins, vitamin K, omega 3 and 6 and more!
HOW TO USE
Wipe or wash off the pulp (yes, it’s a bit slimy) and dry out the seeds on paper or teatowel. You can leave them overnight if you like.
Toss in a plastic bag with a tablespoon of olive oil to coat them all over (or spray with low-fat oil)
Add salt. You can also add pepper, garlic powder, chilli pepper, paprika, curry powder or whatever spice takes your fancy.
Spread out on a roasting tray
Roast at about 100ÂșC for 30 minutes to an hour until toasted to your liking, turning occasionally.
Eat them as snacks with drinks, or sprinkle on salads, other vegetables, curries etc. 2 Dessertspoons is a good daily dose
