| Happy New Year to all!
No doubt with the freezing weather we’ve been having, you feel more inclined to creature comforts and less inclined to start New Year Resolutions?
However, January is a great time to make changes to improve your life in small ways so we’ve an idea for an INDULGENT DETOX that will help counteract the December excess, AND be a creature comfort!
Surely the words ‘Detox’ and ‘Indulgent’ don’t belong together?
Well, in fact, Detox is quite the opposite to deprivation and starvation – it involves looking after yourself, and giving yourself the gift of a better functioning body and a clearer mind. So, yes – a total indulgence of your body’s needs!
We look forward to hearing from you in 2010 if you’ve any contributions for our Newsletter or Customer Feedback on our website

| Relaxing Detox |
One of your body’s needs is rest and relaxation, and you can combine this with an easy Therapeutic Detox Bath to make you feel great.
Detoxing – short for detoxification – is the removal of potentially toxic environmental and dietary toxins from the body. Your body does this all the time through the liver, kidneys, digestive system and skin but sometimes can do with some extra help if there’s an over-accumulation of toxins.
When you bathe with Dead Sea Mineral Salts the mineral salt has a ‘drawing’ effect on the body, helping it to cleanse itself of built up lactic acid and draw out accumulated toxins.
We recommend our Body Polish Salt Scrub with Dead Sea Salts, in the Lemongrass, Ginger & Black Pepper blend as the most effective detox one – both Black Pepper and Ginger are anti-inflammatory, and energise the skin encouraging increased blood flow. Ginger and Lemongrass are both wonderful cleansing agents too.

| Delicious Detox |
Like we mentioned above – Detox can mean Indulgence by providing your body with good things…
We recommend Asparagus as a delicious detox treat. It’s widely available in supermarkets & takes only about 5 minutes to cook.
Asparagus has a beneficial action on kidneys, adrenal glands and bladder. It is recommended as a side dish for salty and meat based dishes because of its excellent diuretic properties.
It also contains fibres that facilitate the intestinal transit and encourage digestion. Asparagus is an excellent source of folic acid, iron, and its juices are potent blood purifiers and it can help regulate blood circulation as well as encourage liver drainage.
WHAT TO DO WITH IT
(5 or 6 stalks per person)
Bend each Asparagus stalk gently – it will snap natually where the top tender part turns more woody and tough.
Discard the woody lower parts
Place the stalks in a steam basket and steam for 4 – 5 minutes
Alternatively bring to the boil and simmer for 2 or 3 minutes – the stalks should be bright green & tender but not soft
Rinse under cold water immediately to stop further cooking
Serve with melted butter & lemon juice; Vinaigrette; Wrapped with parma ham & sprinkled with parmesan; Slice it up and add at last minute to green salads or pasta dishes; Dunk in garlic mayonnaise – or USE YOUR IMAGINATION!
P.S…Asparagus is thought to have aphrodisiac qualities too – keep in mind for next month’s Valentine treat!

| Focus on Ingredients: Dead Sea Mineral Salts |
The Dead Sea in Israel is actually a lake and its salts have the highest levels on Earth of Magnesium, which helps promote healing and cellular regeneration; Potassium, the regulator for moisture content in the skin; Bromide, which lends a smoothing and calming effect on the skin, and Calcium.
Dead Sea Salts contain only 12 – 18% sodium chloride (all other sea salt contains 97% sodium chloride and only 3% beneficial minerals!) Regular bathing in these salts was shown to provide incredible relief and even cures for skin complaints – in particular psoriasis.
The high mineral content of Israeli Dead Sea salt draws out excess oils and toxins through the skin. It also helps stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation thereby removing excess fluid from joints and helping to alleviate stiffness and pain.
Beyond these therapeutic effects for the skin, the University of Jerusalem has provided evidence that Dead Sea Mineral Salts also stimulate circulation and encourage the skin to renew itself and scars to heal.
If that doesn’t sound like the easiest way to benefit your body, then please tell us what is!
